Two singles into his solo career (officially, anyway), Jung Kook has announced the details of his forthcoming album on his own, which is already one of the most highly-anticipated releases of 2023.
Jung Kook’s debut solo album is titled Golden. According to a press release, the title will arrive on November 3. The news was initially announced on social media platform Weverse.
The announcement press statement clarified that the full-length will include 11 songs in total. Only two were mentioned by name, and they’re the two that the world has already heard.
Jung Kook started his promotional campaign around the album now known as Golden with its lead single, “Seven.” The tune, which features rapper Latto, became an instant global smash, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart at the same time it opened atop the Hot 100 in America.
Just a few days ago, Jung Kook returned with the album’s second single, a track titled “3D.” That alt-pop tune is also a collaboration, this time with pop/hip-hop musician Jack Harlow. The song hasn’t yet had enough time to appear on the Billboard charts, but it is likely aiming for a solid start in a few days.
According to the release, Golden “takes its motif from the golden moments of Jung Kook as a solo artist.” The statement goes on to explain further that Jung Kook is “Known as the ‘Golden Maknae’ (‘golden youngest’ in Korean) of BTS,” and thus he decided to name his full-length after that title.
With Golden just around the corner, Jung Kook will become one of the last members of BTS to release a solo album. So far, about half of the singers in the group have dropped projects on their own in 2023 alone. Only one of the seven, Jin, has yet to announce a complete project separate from his work with the band.
