Jung Kook has once again claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart with his latest single, making history in the process. His song “3D,” which features Jack Harlow, opens at No. 1 on Billboard’s authoritative ranking of the most-consumed tunes in the world. This latest achievement marks the second chart-topper for the BTS star on the important list.
By achieving his second No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, Jung Kook has become the first South Korean solo musician to hit the top spot on the chart more than once. Prior to this week, he was tied with Blackpink member Rosé for the most chart-toppers among solo artists in the K-pop genre, with both artists holding a single No. 1 hit. Now, Jung Kook has now pulled ahead.
Jung Kook landed his first chart-topper on the Billboard Global 200 earlier this year when he officially ventured into his solo career. The singer’s debut hit, “Seven,” also opened at No. 1 on the same chart. Now, he has doubled that tally with the release of “3D,” firmly establishing his solo success on a global scale.
Rosé made history in early 2021 by becoming the first solo artist within the K-pop genre to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. Her solo track “On the Ground” climbed to the summit, managing something no other musician had yet accomplished. Interestingly, it would take two more years before another K-pop artist working solo could replicate her success.
Both Jung Kook and Rosé have also tasted chart-topping success as members of their respective groups, which catapulted them to international fame. Blackpink achieved No. 1 hits on the Billboard Global 200 with singles like “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom.” BTS has an even more extensive track record, with seven different songs reaching the pinnacle of the chart.
