Jung Kook continues to make his presence felt on the Billboard charts with his single “Seven.” The tune has been a consistent presence for nearly two months on the weekly tallies and it shows little sign of slowing down, especially on the radio lists. With another week spent on one specific competitive ranking, the smash hit has allowed the talented musician behind the cut to break out of yet another tie with one of his BTS bandmates.
In this latest frame, Jung Kook’s “Seven” experiences a slight dip on the Pop Airplay chart, a weekly ranking that highlights the songs with the widest reach at pop radio stations across America. The tune slips from its previous position at No. 17 to No. 18. It currently finds itself nestled between Miley Cyrus’s “Used To Be Young” and Selena Gomez’s “Single Soon,” both of which make impressive debuts on the list.
“Seven” has now resided on the Pop Airplay chart for a total of seven weeks, which is one of the lengthiest runs for a South Korean solo star on this particular ranking. With yet another week added to its credit, Jung Kook’s hit song breaks free from its tie with Jimin’s single “Angel Pt. 1.” Jimin’s track, which also features musicians Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, Jvke, and Muni Long, had previously reached No. 35 and spent a commendable six weeks on the radio list.
Last week, both BTS bandmates were tied for the distinction of having the fourth-longest-charting song by a solo South Korean musician on the Pop Airplay chart. Now, Jung Kook has once again surged ahead on this timely ranking, relegating Jimin’s hit to fifth place on this tally.
The title of the longest-charting hit single by any South Korean solo artist still belongs to Psy’s iconic “Gangnam Style,” which managed an impressive 19 weeks on the Pop Airplay chart before finally falling off the list. Only one other track fitting this criterion has surpassed the 10-week mark, and interestingly, it also belongs to Jung Kook. His collaboration with Charlie Puth, “Left and Right,” graced the chart for an impressive 17 weeks in 2022.
Additionally, Jung Kook’s “Seven” still trails behind Bibi and 347aidan’s “The Weekend” in terms of the number of weeks spent on the Pop Airplay chart. That joint effort, led by the South Korean singer and actress Bibi, notched up an impressive nine weeks on the ranking.
Given its current trajectory, Jung Kook’s “Seven” may eventually match and even surpass that record, as it seems unlikely to drop off the list in the upcoming two or three weeks, given how high it still ranks and how far it has to fall.
