For months, Jung Kook has maintained a presence on the Hot 100. The BTS star has managed to fill at least one space on Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S. with a slew of hit singles, which all held on for months. Now, for the first time in a while, the singer no longer appears on the chart, but that doesn’t mean he’s gone from all the weekly tallies of the biggest and best music in America.
Last week, Jung Kook sat at No. 88 on the Hot 100. His latest single “Standing Next To You” managed 19 frames on the competitive tally, but now it’s no longer present on that list–though it’s still performing well in other ways.
“Standing Next To You” is still a top 10 hit on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, the weekly ranking of the bestselling tunes in America. The cut falls slightly to No. 9, but the fact that it’s still selling well enough to land inside the highest tier on that roster–but can’t break the Hot 100–is surprising.
In the past tracking period, “Standing Next To You” sold another 3,361 copies. That’s down more than 60% from the period prior, but it’s still a large enough sum to put it ahead of other very popular releases, such as Billie Eilish’s recent Oscar winner “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie, which slides back to No. 10.
“Standing Next To You” is also falling on the Pop Airplay chart, the list that shows which tracks are performing best at pop radio in the United States. On that ranking, Jung Kook backtracks to No. 27 from No. 23.
Recently, “Standing Next To You” rose to a new peak of No. 22 on the Pop Airplay chart. The single is seemingly only beginning its backpedaling, and it could hold on and find space on this list for a few more frames, extending its lifetime on the list. It could also continue to be a bestseller, as BTS fans are known to show their love via purchasing albums and singles in huge numbers and over long periods of time.
