Jung Kook Is Competing Against Himself On Spotify

News Room

Following his worldwide success earlier this year with his debut solo single, “Seven,” Jung Kook is on a mission to score another massive hit with his latest release, “3D.” While the just-dropped single made an impressive debut on Spotify, it found itself trailing behind two artists—remarkably, one of them being Jung Kook himself.

Jung Kook’s “3D” opened in an admirable position on Spotify’s daily global chart, entering at No. 3. The song amassed 6.3 million streams on the platform on its first day of release on Friday, September 29. An alternate version of the track appears inside the top 40 as well, as it racked up 2.14 million streams, enough to help it start at No. 38 on the tally.

Jung Kook’s track narrowly missed reclaiming the top spot, with two other songs outshining it. Doja Cat continues to dominate the chart with her latest hit, “Paint the Town Red,” maintaining the No. 1 position on Spotify’s daily global chart on Friday, September 29 with 7.406 million plays.

In a surprisingly close second place is another hit by Jung Kook himself. His previous song, “Seven,” held steady at No. 2 on the chart. On the same day, the track garnered another impressive 7.403 million streams on Spotify alone.

“Seven” has now maintained a presence on Spotify’s daily global chart for nearly 80 days. Its enduring popularity is evident as it continues to outperform nearly every other track in the world, including Jung Kook’s latest release. While “3D” achieved an impressive debut on the daily chart on Friday—which is when many new singles from major players in the music industry make their entrance—it fell short of surpassing “Seven.”

The fact that “3D” opened as high as it did on Spotify’s daily global chart is a positive sign for the track. If the catchy single can maintain its popularity over the next few days, it stands a strong chance of securing a noteworthy debut on charts worldwide in the coming weeks. “Seven” previously enjoyed a lengthy reign at No. 1 on the Spotify ranking, establishing itself as one of the longest-charting leaders since the platform began publicly publishing the list.
