Jung Kook released his debut solo album, Golden, on Friday, November 3, and it’s headed for a major start on the Billboard charts. The set is powered by two highly successful singles released before the album arrived, and now the singer is aiming to score a third smash from the project.
On the same day that Golden dropped, Jung Kook pushed the song “Standing Next to You” as the third official single from the album. The tune was likely always destined for big things, as the BTS singer is hugely popular and has proved with his past two tunes that he can craft a major hit—but he’s not taking any chances.
On Monday, November 6, Jung Kook released a surprise EP centered around “Standing Next to You.” The singer shared a collection of remixes, which all put a fresh spin on the future smash. The set features the original version, an instrumental, a full band recording, as well as remixes labeled Slow Jam, PBR&B, Latin Trap, Holiday and Future Funk.
The plan with this EP is for fans to stream and buy some or all the new versions of “Standing Next to You” as they continue to consume the original and watch the music video. For charting purposes, all consumption activity connected to the title—no matter the version—is grouped together, which significantly helps the track when it comes to its chart debut. This is a common practice among major stars in the music industry, and one that both Jung Kook and BTS have employed before.
“Standing Next to You” is surely headed for a big start on the Hot 100 chart in a few days, but how high it will open upon its arrival is hard to predict. Jung Kook officially launched his solo career with the song “Seven” with rapper Latto in mid-2023, and that track debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100. He followed that up weeks later with “3D,” a collaboration with Jack Harlow. That song also reached the top five.
