Jung Kook Matches A Feat Only Managed By BTS And Blackpink

News Room

Jung Kook claims the No. 1 song in the world once again, as his new single “3D” opens at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, the weekly ranking of the most-consumed tunes in the world. At the same time, the cut opens atop the similar Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, which is essentially the same as the other list, except it excludes all data from America. Amazingly, “3D” isn’t Jung Kook’s only current smash on the latter list, and thanks to intense interest in his solo catalog, the singer makes history.

This week, Jung Kook claims both the Nos. 1 and 2 songs on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. As “3D” opens at No. 1, his previous smash “Seven” lands at No. 2. The former chart-topper is still going strong, and now it’s helped the BTS singer claim the top two tracks on the ranking.

According to Billboard, Jung Kook is now the first solo artist to occupy both the Nos. 1 and 2 spots in the history of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.

When looking at all musical acts, Jung Kook becomes only the third name to fill the highest two spaces on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, and all three hail from the K-pop world. Billboard states that only BTS, Blackpink, and now Jung Kook have managed this impressive feat.

The first act to score the Nos. 1 and 2 tracks on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart was BTS. The septet, which counts Jung Kook as a member, sent “Life Goes On” and “Dynamite” to the peak and runner-up spots on the tally back in 2020, just months after the ranking was introduced.

Blackpink joined BTS in this accomplishment just last year. The South Korean girl group claimed the Nos. 1 and 2 songs on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with “Shut Down” and “Pink Venom,” which ruled the ranking almost exactly a year ago.
