Jung Kook Replaces Himself At No. 1 On Spotify’s Chart

News Room

Jung Kook is taking over the world with his debut solo album Golden, which was released on Friday, November 3. The set has already produced two hit singles, and now the third focus track from the full-length is off to a fantastic start as well. In fact, it takes over as the biggest song in the world, helping the singer replace himself on one of the most important music charts on the planet—again.

“Standing Next to You” is the latest single from Golden, and it was released the same day as the album. After only a few days of availability, the tune has reached the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s global chart. The track ranked as the most-streamed title in the world on Monday, November 6. On that day, it earned 5.672 million plays.

It’s impressive that “Standing Next to You” has risen to the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s global chart, but what may be even more noteworthy is the fact that Jung Kook replaces himself atop the tally. The day prior, Jung Kook also claimed the top-streamed cut in the world, but with a different track.

On Sunday, November 5, Jung Kook’s previous chart-topper “Seven” ruled the same ranking. That tune, which features rapper Latto, spent another day atop the Spotify global chart, racking up nearly 5.1 million streams. That day, “Standing Next to You” was a non-mover in the runner-up rung, still waiting for its turn to climb to the peak.

As “Standing Next to You” claims the No. 1 spot on the Spotify chart that tracks the most-streamed songs globally, “Seven” falls from the throne… but it doesn’t tumble very far. Jung Kook’s previous leader slips to No. 4 with another five million streams. In between the BTS star’s hits are Tate McRae’s “Greedy” at No. 2 and “Si No Estás” by Iñigo Quintero at No. 3.

“Standing Next to You” is Jung Kook’s third song from Golden to top Spotify’s incredibly competitive global chart. In addition to “Seven,” he also ruled for a short time with “3D,” which served as the second single from the album. That smash, which credits rapper Jack Harlow, took over for “Seven,” meaning the singer has replaced himself atop the tally more than once.
