Jung Kook continues his reign over the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart this week with his hit single “Seven.” The tune, which also credits rapper Latto in a featured role, has been running the show on the tally since it arrived, and with one more turn atop the list, the superstar ties several other acts, including the one that helped him become a globally-adored musician.
The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart ranks the most consumed tracks all around the world, using both streaming and sales data. The tally excludes all information from the United States, as its truncated name suggests, to differentiate it from the Billboard Global 200, which does incorporate listening info from America.
“Seven” has held onto the No. 1 position on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for eight consecutive weeks, which is one of the longest runs in first place of all time on the tally. With an eighth frame atop the ranking, Jung Kook ties four other artists for the sixth-longest streak at No. 1.
Included in that group is BTS, of which Jung Kook is a member. The seven-piece K-pop outfit kept their hit single “Dynamite” at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for eight weeks in the earliest days of the roster, which was introduced in 2020.
“Seven” is currently also on the same level as two other eight-week No. 1 hits—Sam Smith and Kim Petras’s “Unholy” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
If “Seven” ends up ruling Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a ninth week, it will break its tie with Smith, Petras, Carey and BTS and match three other smashes. Gayle’s “ABCDEFU,” The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” all led the charge for nine frames, and Jung Kook may soon join them.
The song’s continued dominance is primarily driven by its exceptional streaming success outside of the United States. Last week alone, “Seven” collected an impressive 83.8 million streams worldwide, according to Billboard. The track also sold an additional 3,000 copies sold.
