Madonna is busy rehearsing for her upcoming global trek, The Celebration Tour, which is slated to begin in mid-October. The singer is bound to fill major arenas and make millions from the venture, but she’s also making sure to give some away and add a philanthropic angle to the project.
The pop icon is teaming up with fashion brand Ministry of Tomorrow to launch a small and limited edition line of exclusive merchandise for super fans, tying it into her The Celebration Tour. So far, the collection only includes a pair of tote bags with graphic prints on them that are sure to be loved by die-hard supporters of the singer.
The Celebration Tour merchandise is not only a fashion statement but also a testament to sustainability and ethical fashion practices, which Ministry of Tomorrow is known for. The fabric used in the creation of these items is certified organic and sourced through fair-trade channels.
Madonna’s fans can look forward to buying these exclusive items both online and at a handful of venues along The Celebration Tour’s route. The superstar is donating 100% of the proceeds from these two tote bags to a pair of charities: Raising Malawi and the Chema Vision Children’s Center. Madonna is also encouraging fans to make donations to these organizations.
Madonna founded Raising Malawi in 2006 with the goal of addressing critical needs among vulnerable children. The Chema Vision Children’s Center is situated in Kibera, an underprivileged urban area in Kenya, and, according to a quote on the non-profit’s website sourced to Mary Muthini – Cofounder and Headmistress of Chema Vision, the goal is to “educate and feed as many children in the slums because we want something good for the children of Kibera.”
Madonna’s The Celebration Tour was originally supposed to begin this past July, but was postponed due to Madonna’s hospitalization for a severe bacterial infection in late June. Now, it’s set to begin in London on October 14 and run around the world, finishing (so far, at least) in Mexico City next April.
