Over the past week, Miley Cyrus has been the focus of the American music industry thanks to her latest single, “Used To Be Young.” This frame, the song has made a notable debut on several Billboard charts, completing a swift rise and becoming another hit for the renowned singer.
However, while much of the attention has naturally gravitated toward the younger Cyrus, it’s important to note that she isn’t the only member of the family with a new chart win.
Both Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, have simultaneously introduced new songs to this week’s Adult Contemporary chart. Billboard publishes this chart weekly, and it ranks the songs that garner the largest audience on U.S. radio stations specializing in the adult contemporary sub-genre of pop music.
Among the two generations of Cyruses, Miley’s “Used To Be Young” claims the higher position on the chart. The freshly released single makes its entrance at No. 17, securing the top debut of the week. The track marks her tenth appearance on the Adult Contemporary chart, and third of 2023.
Remarkably, “Used To Be Young” is not the only song from Miley on the Adult Contemporary chart. Her previous hit, “Flowers,” continues to dominate the ranking despite the fact that it was released in January. This time around, it earns its twenty-second week atop the tally. Meanwhile, her follow-up single, “Jaded,” is still holding its own, albeit with a slight dip from No. 20 to No. 25 in the current ranking.
Adding to the family’s chart presence, Billy Ray Cyrus has also returned to the Adult Contemporary chart with his new single, “Plans.” The collaborative effort, featuring musician Firerose, secures a position at the bottom of the chart, entering at No. 30. Coincidentally (or not so), Firerose happens to be engaged to Billy Ray.
“Plans” marks the fourth hit for Billy Ray on the Adult Contemporary chart, and his second with his new fiancee. The two reached No. 19 with their previous single, “New Day,” which was successful throughout 2021.
