NSYNC fans have been begging for a reunion for years, and now it seems their prayers are finally being answered…or at least it seems that way.
The boy band is set to reunite tonight (September 12) at the MTV Video Music Awards. The news was confirmed by Billboard just hours ahead of the ceremony. While a source confirmed the fun news, what exactly the five men who make up the group will be doing isn’t entirely clear. The article simply states that the musicians “will be onstage together.”
At this point, it seems unlikely, though certainly not impossible, that NSYNC is performing at the 2023 VMAs. If the group had reformed for a proper song and dance number, MTV would likely want to make more out of the announcement. There’s a good chance that instead, they’ll be presenting an award or perhaps introducing someone.
The boy band, who dominated the late ‘90s and early ‘00s in pop music, reportedly has recorded new music for the upcoming Trolls movie, which is slated to arrive later this year. For now, nothing has been confirmed from the studio of the group, but there have been plenty of hints that they’ve finished a new tune titled “Take You To A Better Place” for the film.
NSYNC’s last album, Celebrity, was released in 2001. They promoted that project into 2002, when Justin Timberlake broke off from the boy band to pursue a solo career. Since then, the quintet has been quiet, while Timberlake became one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. They reunited a decade ago at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards when Timberlake earned the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
