Hello and welcome to Saturday, dearest Strandophiles! I am your host, Erik, and I have returned after a two-week hiatus. My colleagues Kris Holt and Paul Tassi and I are on a weekly rotation. I have missed you and I have missed coming up with these guides, though I have continued to play Strands on the off-weeks, along with my daily Wordles.

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. Let’s solve today’s, shall we?

Today’s Strands Breakdown

This was surprisingly easy for me despite the fact that I’m not particularly interested in fashion or sewing or various fabric materials. I first discovered MUSLIN and immediately knew what the them was, quickly snagging SATIN and VELVET and then the spangram in short order. SPANDEX and CHIFFON came next. The only time I was genuinely stumped for a minute was with the final two words: DENIM and JERSEY, but in the end I got this one without needing a hint. Huzzah!
