Several major stars including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson, Jason Momoa and many former cast members walked the red carpet leading into Sunday night’s SNL 50: The Anniversary Special celebrating Saturday Night Live.
SNL 5o: The Anniversary Special will be broadcast and streaming live on NBC-TV and Peacock. Officially, Saturday Night Live will turn 50 in October. Produced by Lorne Michaels, the first broadcast of SNL happened on Oct. 11, 1975.
The SNL 5o: The Anniversary Special follows the Saturday Night Live musical event SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert, which streamed live on Peacock on Friday. Additionally, SNL has produced the docuseries SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night and three-hour documentary Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music, which are both streaming on Peacock.

Former SNL star Eddie Murphy walked the red carpet at the SNL 50th anniversary celebration. Murphy was an SNL cast member from 1980-1984.
Kristen Wiig was also at the event. Wiig was an SNL cast member from 2005-2019.
SNL alum Maya Rudolph, who attended the celebration, was an SNL cast member from 2000-2007 and has since returned in guest roles on the show.
Tracy Morgan waved to the crowd while walking the SNL 50th Anniversary red carpet. Morgan was a cast member on SNL from 1996-2003.
Former SNL cast member Pete Davidson appeared at the event. Davidson was an SNL cast member from 2014-2022.
Former SNL cast members Billy Crystal and Chris Rock were among the former stars of the legendary sketch show to attend the 50th anniversary celebration. Crystal was an SNL cast member for one season, from 1984-1985, while Rock was a cast member from 1990-1993.
Former SNL cast member Will Ferrell and current SNL writers-performers Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy (collectively known as the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy) assembled for a photo on the red carpet.
Ferrell was an SNL cast member from 1995-2002 and has since returned to host the show. Please Don’t Destory have been writing for SNL as well as producing and appearing in digital shorts since 2021.
Previous SNL guest host Ayo Edebiri joins current and former SNL cast members Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernández, Jay Pharoah, Martin Short and Ego Nwodim for a photo at the event.
Thompson has been an SNL cast member since 2003, while Hernández joined the show in 2022. Pharoah was a cast member from 2010-2016, Short was a cast member from 1984-85 and Nwodim joined the show in 2018.
Frequent SNL guest star and host Alec Baldwin joined fellow former SNL host Catherine O’Hara for a photos at the event.

Former SNL cast member Adam Sandler appeared at the 50th anniversary celebration red carpet with Jackie Sandler, actor Laura Dern, musican Eddie Vedder. and Jill Vedder.
Sandler was an SNL writer in 1991 and transitioned to a featured player and eventually a full-time cast member from 1991-1995.

Former SNL cast member Fred Armisen and actor Ricki Lindhome walked the SNL 50th anniversary celebration red carpet. Armisen was an SNL cast member from 2002-2013.
Original SNL cast member Chevy Chase attended the event. Chase appeared on the first episode of SNL on Oct. 11, 1975, and left the show after one season.
Pedro Pascal appeared on the red carpet for the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special. Pascal has previously appeared on SNL as a host.
Original SNL cast member Garrett Morris appeared on the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special red carpet. Morris appeared on the first episode of the show on Oct. 11, 1975, and remained with SNL until 1980.
Former talk show host David Letterman and Letterman show bandleader Paul Shaffer attended the SNL event. Shaffer was also a member of the original SNL band from 1975-1980.
Patti Hansen, Keith Richards, Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen gathered for a photo at the event. Fallon was a cast member on SNL from 1998-2004 and Richards appeared as a musical guest on the show as part of the Rolling Stones.
Hansen has been married to Richards since 19830 and Fallon and Juvonen—who produces films with actor-filmmaker Drew Barrymore—have been married since 2007.
