Reba McEntire Sitcom ‘Happy’s Place’ Snags Full Season Order At NBC

News Room

NBC, as expected, has greenlit the Reba McEntire-Melissa Peterman sitcom Happy’s Place for the full season, which in this case translates into five additional episodes. Once upon a time, a traditional full season for a network series was 22 episodes. Happy’s Place is now confirmed for 18 episodes in season one.

Anchoring Friday evening, Happy’s Place on NBC is averaging 4.6 million viewers and a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 (with DVR usage), according to Nielsen, which on an evening marred by low HUT (household using television) levels is considered a winner.

Debuting on October 18, Happy’s Place features the beloved Reba as Bobbie, who discovers the tavern she inherited after her father’s passing (”Happy’s Place”) has a new co-owner — Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), the half-sister she never knew existed. Melissa Peterman, McEntire’s sitcom partner from the earlier entry Reba, plays Gabby, the bartender; Rex Linn is Emmett, the cook; Tokaa Black is Takoda, the waiter; and Pablo Castelblanco is Steve, the neurotic accountant for the tavern.

Elizabeth Alderfer (United States of Al), meanwhile, is joining the cast as Gracie, the daughter of McEntire’s Bobbie. And former Reba co-star Steve Howey is guest-starring in December as a potential sperm donor for Peterman’s Gabby.

Happy’s Place is the third new network sitcom to receive a full season episode order following Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Poppa’s House on CBS. Chances of additional episodes for NBC’s recently introduced St. Denis Medical is also highly likely.
