Roger Waters already holds the record for the longest-charting album of all time on the Billboard 200 with Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. Now, the rock legend is back on not only that ranking but several other charts with a reworking of the beloved album.
This week, Waters debuts on a number of Billboard charts with The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux. The album sees him reworking the songs from the original The Dark Side Of The Moon, mixing sounds and styles and adding new lyrics. Fans have enthusiastically embraced this creative endeavor, propelling it to chart success in America.
The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux enters the Billboard 200 at No. 142, marking Waters’s eighth solo appearance on the chart. The album shifted just under 8,800 equivalent units, according to data shared by Luminate.
The album’s highest debut is on the Top Album Sales chart, where it lands at No. 9. The ranking focuses solely on pure purchases and doesn’t include streaming data. The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux sold just over 8,350 copies in its debut frame.
Waters’s latest release is his eighth placement on the Top Album Sales chart, mirroring his success on the Billboard 200. However, it performed significantly better on this tally, earning him his third solo top 10 entry and the second-highest-charting solo project of his career. Only Is This The Life We Really Want? reached a loftier position, peaking at No. 4 in 2017.
In addition to these achievements, The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux opens at No. 13 on the Top Vinyl Albums chart. It also reaches the Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally, opening at No. 35.
