Taylor Swift Will Likely Make Hot 100 Hitstory Next Week With ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

News Room

Taylor Swift released her re-recorded album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on Friday, July 7, and the album is already performing spectacularly across all metrics, including on streaming sites like Spotify and Apple

Music. All the plays the set and its songs rack up on streaming music platforms will help the album rise to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but those streams also determine which tunes find their way to the Hot 100 songs ranking.

After Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) has enjoyed a full tracking week in which to collect streams and sales, it will likely send several songs from the album to the Hot 100, ranking them among the most-consumed in the U.S. Exactly how many tracks from the re-recorded full-length will hit the main songs ranking is yet to be seen, but there’s a very good chance that enough will debut that Swift will hit a very special milestone.

Currently, Swift counts 190 Hot 100 hits in her discography. She only needs 10 more placements on the tally to reach 200 appearances on the chart. It’s not a guarantee, but there’s a very good chance that at least 10 tunes from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be popular enough in their first week of availability that they’ll go right onto the chart.

If she earns at least 10 more wins on the Hot 100, Swift will become just the third act in history to reach 200 placements on the chart. Currently, Drake ranks in first place, as he’s pushed 296 songs to the ranking, and he’s likely about to become the first to reach 300 hits before the end of the year. In between the rapper and Swift is the cast of the TV show Glee, who managed 207 hits on the chart during their time together.

Even if Swift misses hitting the 200 mark next week, she will approach it, and she will easily pass that milestone next time around. She regularly releases new music, and she still has three more albums to re-record and share. So this bit of history is certainly in her future, though when exactly she’ll achieve this feat is yet to be seen.
