Taylor Swift may be in the middle of the busiest period of her lengthy and storied career. The superstar is on tour, extending her global trek, filming music videos, and preparing to promote a new album. Actually, soon she’ll have three albums out that she’s actively promoting in one way or another, which is nearly unheard of in the music industry, especially for someone like Swift.
On July 7, Swift will release Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), the re-recorded version of her early set Speak Now. The singer is busy re-recording and re-releasing her first six full-lengths in an effort to regain some control over that music and make money off of those tunes instead of the companies that own the rights at the moment.
Swift has been teasing Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and soon she’ll be promoting it properly as she surely wants it to go right to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The set will almost certainly become another leader on the chart, and any number of the tracks featured on it could become Hot 100 hits. If any overperform, she may even spin them off as official singles.
The Grammy winner is also in the middle of keeping her latest album of all original material, Midnights, alive. The album was released in late 2022 and it became a massive commercial win. Months later, Swift is still promoting it as she just recently spun “Karma” off as the third official single. She recently released a remix of the tune featuring rapper Ice Spice, which sent the cut to No. 2 on the Hot 100. “Karma” is still working its way up the Billboard radio charts, and she could conceivably produce a fourth single from the album if she likes.
At the same time, Swift is hoping to snag the song of the summer with “Cruel Summer,” the electro-pop tune featured on her 2019 album Lover. As she began playing the cut on her The Eras Tour, it became something of a surprise smash on streaming platforms, and now it’s being promoted to radio as the last official single from Lover, years after it was first released. Swift may deliver a music video soon, as “Cruel Summer” has the makings of a real hit.
It’s very odd to see a musician like Swift promoting three albums at once, but this is a different music industry, and she’s perhaps the most powerful artist in the world. So, while a trio of projects at once is a lot, Swift might have what it takes to make it all work.
