Streaming service Max has opted against a third season of the critically acclaimed drama The Flight Attendant. Described as a combination of dark comedy, drama and mystery, The Flight Attendant centered on an alcoholic stewardess named Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) whose life changes after she finds a dead man in her hotel room with no recollection of what happened. It was initially based on the novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian.

Season two of The Flight Attendant, which debuted in April 2022, wasn’t based on a book and saw Cassie working with the CIA on a different case.

“What started out as an attention-grabbing book cover quickly evolved into an extraordinary flight of a lifetime,” Cuoco said in a statement. “I always envisioned TFA as a limited series and thanks to an incredible creative team, we were able to deliver two thrilling seasons. Personally, playing Cassie has been a dream come true and I am so grateful for everyone who played a part in bringing this extremely original series to life.”

Added creator Steve Yockey in a statement: “The Flight Attendant was a true passion project and the reception from viewers and critics alike was pretty stunning. Our unorthodox spectacle of a show really found people. As we all move on to new projects, those two seasons of television and the incredible team of professionals behind them will always stay at the top of my list.”

The Flight Attendant was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards throughout its run, including Kaley Cuoco Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series. It scored one Emmy win, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, in its first season. A total of 16 episodes of The Flight Attendant were produced.
