Right now, Las Vegas belongs to Usher. The beloved R&B singer will be headlining the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas — the same city where his residency, Usher: My Way The Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, was recently extended.
Usher follows Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl set, where the singer revealed that she was pregnant with her and A$AP Rocky’s second child. Her performance was the most-watched halftime show in history with 121.017 million viewers, according to Billboard, so Usher has big shoes to fill this coming February.
Now that Usher’s been unveiled as the main act, people are already speculating about which hits he’ll include in the coveted 13-minute set. “Those 13 minutes mean everything,” the singer told Zane Lowe live from Paris, per Billboard. “Been on my bucket list for a long time.”
Which songs will Usher perform at the Super Bowl?
Which songs will Usher perform at the Super Bowl? We’re not sure yet, but we expect Usher to tap into the most popular hits over his decades-long career. The playlist from his recent Las Vegas residency could lend some clues into what singles he’ll ultimately select for the final roster.
Eighteen of his tracks have been top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “U Got It Bad,” “Yeah!,” “My Boo” and “OMG.” Here are some tracks that have a good chance of being included in Usher’s set, including songs from albums like My Way (1997,) 8701 (2001,) Confessions (2004,) Here I Stand (2008) and Versus (2010).
- “Yeah! (feat. Lil Jon & Ludacris)”
- “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love (feat. Pitbull)”
- “Confessions, Part II”
- “U Don’t Have to Call”
- “OMG (feat. will.i.am)”
- “My Way”
- “Scream”
- “Love in This Club”
The musician’s ninth studio album, Coming Home, will also be arriving on Super Bowl Sunday, so we expect the singer to perform at least one single from his forthcoming LP — perhaps his 2023 single “Good Good,” which features Summer Walker and 21 Savage.
Prior to Coming Home, he released the eight-track project, A, in 2018 with Zaytoven. In 2016, his album Hard II Love peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Over his career, he’s earned eight Grammy Awards, 35 ASCAP Awards, 18 Billboard Music Awards and more.
Which guest artists could join Usher at the Super Bowl?
Which guest artists could join Usher at the Super Bowl? In his interview with Apple Music 1’s Lowe live from Paris, the singer hinted that there could be a collaboration in the works. “Well, one thing I can say is I’ve collaborated with a lot of incredible artists throughout the years,” he told Lowe. “If anything, I like (to) socially engage the world, you know what I’m saying?”
Based on his discography, anyone from Lil Jon and Ludacris to Pitbull and will.i.am could make an appearance. If Usher performs his 2004 hit “My Boo,” there’s even a chance that Alicia Keys could join the singer on stage. His longtime friend and mentee, Justin Bieber, could be a contender too.
Usher is represented by Roc Nation (the entertainment agency founded and owned by Jay-Z,) so any of their artists could potentially make an appearance as well. NFL entered into a partnership with Roc Nation in 2019 “to boost the quality of its halftime shows,” according to The New York Times
