Based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, whose father Omni-Man, was the most powerful superhero on the planet. As Mark develops his superpowers, the teenager learns that his father’s legacy may not be what it seems.
“Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season One, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear − that he might become his father without even knowing it,” Prime Video said about the second season, according to USA Today.
Season 2, Part 2 of Invincible returned in March 2024 with new episodes after a four-month hiatus. Season 2 boasts an R-rating, which showrunner Simon Racioppa defended in a November 2023 interview with The Direct. Racioppa explained the reasoning for the increased use of bloody and gory elements in Season 2 compared to Season 1.
“We’re always like, ‘What are the real reactions?’ or ‘What really would happen in the scenario if you had these super-powered characters … fighting someone who’s not superpowered?’ Like, they would explode, if [they] got hit. If Superman punched you, you would explode. That’s just kind of like what would happen. So we try to proceed from there,” Racioppa said.
The showrunner added that they also “like to have a little bit of fun” and give viewers a character-driven final result. “But then when we get into the scenes, we also want to give you great action, we want to do things that maybe other shows aren’t quite doing,” he continued. “So I’m not gonna lie that we have a little bit of fun with that kind of stuff, but I hope it all comes from character.”

How Many Episodes Are In Invincible Season 2?
The second season of Invincible has eight episodes and was released in two parts. The first four episodes debuted in November, while the second part kicked off with Season 2, Episode 5, “This Must Come as a Shock,” on March 14, 2024.
