Based on six fantasy novels written by Rick Riordan, the popular middle-grade books are set in a world where Greek gods are in the 21st century. The Disney+ Original series — adapted from The Lightning Thief — retells the story of Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old demigod who has just discovered his divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt. Jackson leans on his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Jeffries) to help find it and restore order to Olympus.

What Happens In Percy Jackson Episode 7?

(Warning: Spoilers for Episode 7 ahead.) Now that Percy has Poseidon’s magical pearls that allow safe passage from the Underworld, it’s time for the trio to retrieve the master bolt and save Percy’s mother from Hades. But first, they must enter Crusty’s Waterbed Palace — but in true Percy Jackson fashion — not everything is as it seems.

The owner of Crusty’s Waterbed Palace is Procrustes, a demigod son of Poseidon (Percy’s half-brother) and the evil guardian of the Underworld. Crusty’s waterbeds kill guests when they get on them, but Annabeth manages to push Crusty on a bed — trapping him there — while she’s invisible.

The three make their way to a creepy closet (aka the entrance to the Underworld). A flashback shows Percy as a child arguing with his mother about starting a new school. Back in the Underworld, the three come across a grim reaper-looking figure. “You’re not dead,” it says to them, before Percy responds, “I mean, we’re all dying to some extent.”

The infamous three-headed dog Cerberus, who guards the Underworld, emerges and charges at the kids. Grover has his magical flying shoes to save him, but he can only carry Percy. Thankfully, Grover’s red stress ball appears, and they use it to distract Cerberus, who is still a puppy at heart. But Grover’s pearl is now missing, and they only have three left — which means someone will be left behind. Percy volunteers to stay there so he can free his mother.

Cerberus eventually tracks them down again, and Annabeth says that she wants to stay behind to distract the dog so Percy and Grover can continue. Grover, wearing the enchanted flying shoes, is suddenly pulled toward the pit of Tartarus. Percy saves Grover, and afterward, he discovers Zeus’ missing master bolt in the backpack that Ares gave him. They were framed by someone connected to Ares.

When they find Hades (who doesn’t seem so wicked after all), Percy demands to see his mom. But Hades won’t give her up without getting what he wants. While conversing, the Gold of the Underworld reveals that he did not steal the lightning bolt. All he cares about is his stolen Helm of Darkness, which was used to take the bolt in the first place.

Percy realizes that Kronos, the Titan and the father/grandfather of the Olympians, is likely the one conspiring against the gods. Hades tells them if that’s true, he wants to be prepared for war, and the bolt could help him. But, Percy decides to take Hades’ original offer to find the Helm of Darkness for his mother’s life and uses the pearls to escape. Percy and Grover reunite with Annabeth and come face to face with Ares, again — this time, with weapons drawn.

Who Plays Procrustes in Percy Jackson?

In Percy Jackson, Procrustes (aka Crusty) is played by Julian Richings. Fun fact: Richings previously starred as the ferryman of the Underworld in the 2010 Chris Columbus-directed film Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The British-Canadian actor is best known for playing Death in The CW series Supernatural.

Who Plays Hades in Percy Jackson?

Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld, is portrayed by Jay Duplass on the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Duplass has also appeared in TV and films like Pain Hustlers, Jeff, Who Lives at Home, Transparent, and Togetherness.

In a recent interview with Mashable, Duplass shared that this is his first project that he can watch with his children. “Not only is it the first thing that they can watch me in, but it’s without a doubt their favorite book series of all time,” Duplass told the site. “They have read all of the books at least five times. They’re rabid, rabid fans.”

He continued, “It’s always interesting walking into a piece of art that you already know about. Mostly, it was a curiosity of wondering how they were going to do things. It was just cool to enter the universe,” he added. “I honestly didn’t go in with super strong ideas about what I wanted to do with Hades until I really got there and started working more and more with [the showrunners] to try and figure out exactly how it should be.”
