Taylor Swift is inching closer and closer to releasing 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and fans can’t wait to hear how it differs from the original and what the “From The Vault” tracks sound like. Now, the singer is not only teasing those unreleased tunes, but also potentially what might be one of her biggest collaborations yet.
Earlier this week, Swift unveiled a playful pop-up animation in celebration of the upcoming album, and at the same time, a series of puzzles with Google. The search giant teamed up with the pop star to give fans a way to “unlock” the vault via word games, and one in particular seems a bit too coincidental to not mean something very exciting.
One particular puzzle has captured the imagination of fans of both Swift and Nicki Minaj. The answer to the game in question—one of 89 fans need to complete—is “Sagittarius.” For those who haven’t been following Swift carefully, it might not mean too much, but real Swifties can sense a proper hint when it pops up, and this one seems to suggest a duet.
Minaj and Swift share the same astrological sign, Sagittarius, with birthdays falling on December 8 and December 13, respectively. If this was the only connection, it would be a weak one, but Swift knows better than to leave her fans guessing too much.
At this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Swift received one of her many trophies from Minaj herself, who was also working as the evening’s host. During her speech, Swift affectionately referred to Minaj as “my favorite Sagittarius over there.” Minaj couldn’t hide her smile, and fans of both stars loved the moment.
As if that wasn’t enough to make fans playing these word games to question the connection and the meaning of the clue “Sagittarius,” a recent tweet of Minaj’s is adding fuel to this fire. Last month, the rapper wrote, “Fighting the urge to say Sagittarius tingz right now so bad,” as she quote tweeted a post that pointed out that she and Swift as the only female artists in Billboard chart history to score at least 100 entries on the Hot 100.
Another, earlier tweet of Minaj’s that reads, “Dear Barbz, it must be exhausting always rooting for the Anti-hero,” shows that the two have been hinting toward one another for months now. The “Anti-Hero” comment was a reference to Swift’s latest Hot 100 No. 1 from her recent album Midnights.
So far, neither Swift nor Minaj have commented on these rumors, but Swifties know that once enough evidence adds up, there’s real reason to believe that the predictions may very well be true. They have been proved true in cases like these many times in the past, and only time will tell if Minaj is, in fact, featured on 1989 (Taylor’s Version), perhaps on a track titled “Sagittarius.”
