Taylor Swift’s ongoing The Eras Tour has captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world, and it is on its way to becoming one of the most successful treks in history. The singer keeps adding new shows to the already impressive schedule, extending her reach to various cities and different countries. While she’s keeping busy on the road, not all nations have made it onto the coveted tour itinerary, leaving some world leaders disappointed and determined to catch Swift’s attention.
Chilean President Gabriel Boric recently took to YouTube to make a plea to the renowned artist. In a video shared with the public, he expressed his desire for Swift to include Chile in her Latin America tour. President Boric’s words resonated with the passionate Chilean Swifties, and he remains hopeful that the singer will respond positively to his invitation. He remarked, “One day, she’ll listen to the Chilean Swifties, and I have no doubt she’ll come to Chile. Hopefully sometime within the next three years.” Although Swift has scheduled shows in Brazil and Argentina, many neighboring countries in South America were left out.
The mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, also joined the chorus of world leaders requesting Swift’s presence in their respective nations. He penned a letter to the singer, urging her to consider adding Hungary to her tour itinerary. To emphasize his plea—or at least make headlines with it—Karácsony shared a picture of himself holding the heartfelt message on Instagram. Despite his efforts, Swift has yet to respond, and no dates in Hungary have been added to the tour as of now.
Notably, Canada’s government became involved in the discussion after it became apparent that Swift was not planning to include the country in her tour. Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux filed an official grievance in the House of Commons, expressing concerns about the potential loss of revenue that The Eras Tour could have brought to Canada. Seizing the opportunity, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter to extend a playful invitation to Taylor Swift. He tweeted, “It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.”
Joining the chorus of leaders seeking Taylor Swift’s attention, Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of Thailand’s Move Forward Party, also used Twitter as a platform to reach out to the pop sensation. He tweeted, “Thailand is back on track to be fully democratic after you had to cancel last time due to the coup. The Thai people have spoken via the election, and we all look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful nation of ours.”
Swift has been extending The Eras Tour regularly, so there’s still a chance that she may heed some of these requests and visit places like Chile, Canada or Thailand…though at some point, she will have to cease touring, and fans need to remember that she can’t perform everywhere.
