La Liste’s annual ranking of international restaurants dropped on Thursday, November 16. And the top spots have stayed consistent.
For the seventh consecutive year, Manhattan’s Le Bernardin was named the number one restaurant in the U.S. This is also the fourth time chef Eric Ripert’s signature seafood restaurant is ranked at the top spot globally.
Worldwide, Le Bernardin shared its number one status with six other fine dining establishments: L’Enclume – Simon Rogan in Grange-over-Sands, England; Guy Savoy in Paris, France; La Vague d’Or – Le Cheval Blanc in Saint Tropez, France; Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn, Germany; 龙景轩 – Lung King Heen in Hong Kong; and 鮨さいとう – Sushi Saito in Minato-ku, Japan.
All seven of these top restaurants received a score of 99.5 according to La Liste’s proprietary ranking methodology. Unlike other awards or rankings, like Michelin or World’s 50 Best, which rely on panels of judges and anonymous inspectors or critics, La Liste favors several opinions and sources, using an algorithm to rank restaurants according to reviews by fine dining guides, professional restaurant critics, bloggers, and review sites that publish consumer opinion.
Nearly 1,100 international sources are accumulated and ranked to come up with the list, which is organized by worldwide rankings as well as national lists graded with points up to 100. The top spot on La Liste this year is all down to half a point. Over a dozen restaurants worldwide tied for second place, with scores of 99.
In the United States, top restaurants are mostly in New York and California and are ranked as follows:
- Le Bernardin in New York, NY, 99.5
- SingleThread in Healdsburg, CA, 99 (second place worldwide)
- The French Laundry in Yountville, CA, 98.5 (third place worldwide)
- Daniel in New York, NY, 98 (fourth place worldwide)
- Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, CA, 97.5 (fifth place worldwide)
- Atomix in New York, NY, 97.7 (fifth place worldwide)
- The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, VA (fifth place worldwide)
La Liste ranks 1,000 restaurants worldwide across 200 countries. Over 40,000 restaurants, pastry shops and hotels are analyzed by the algorithm. All of the selected spots can be found in La Liste’s app.
