Alpinestars, the global leader in motorsports apparel and innovation, launches its 3rd RSRV Capsule in collaboration with the McLaren F1 Team. This collaboration seamlessly merges authentic racing culture with modern design, showcasing Alpinestars’ commitment to innovation and sustainability through the use of dead stock materials sourced from real F1 race suits.
The RSRV x McLaren F1 Team Capsule designed by Denise Focil, Alpinestars RSRV CEO, features a range of garments that incorporate F1-inspired design elements, such as high-neck collars reminiscent of balaclavas and hidden zippers that reflect the construction of racing suits. Each piece is crafted to ensure both functionality and style, making it a perfect blend of heritage and contemporary fashion.
Alpinestars RSRV is the latest line under the Alpinestars main brand pushing the boundaries of motorsports culture- a place where Fashion, Art and Motorsports meet. Focil shared that the priority of design began by looking at Apline Stars highest level of technical apparel and then re-imagining that through the RSRV lens. “We started by studying our F1 racing Suits of today and the F1 racing suits of many years ago to gather inspiration for this collection and coupled with intensive research into our McLaren F1 Racing materials archive; we wanted to make sure every single piece actually had a piece of the racetrack on it. Essentially we wanted everyone who purchased a piece of the collection to have something that our McLaren F1 Drivers also have whether it’s the same Aramid fire-resistant fabric on your jacket or Fire Resistant Patches made from the same material of the McLaren F1 Racesuits on your hoodie – you could literally wear a piece of what Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri wear every weekend,” she added.
“We were inspired by the rich history of McLaren Racing which was interestingly founded the same year Alpinestars was founded 1963. We used elements from our McLaren F1 Racing suits + incorporated them into each piece of the collection. For example: The Arena blurs the lines between fashion and racing. This garment is built from the same fabric used to construct the F1 race suits that protect the McLaren drivers. Using deadstock black Aramid for the body and Nomex ribbing for the cuffs, the jacket shares protective and technical DNA with the suits worn on the track, but in a casual, contemporary aesthetic inspired by the streets,” explained Focil on intersecting fashion and function. “Another standout piece that reinterprets F1 Racing into a wearable fashion garment is the Pyro Tee. The body of the PYRO SS TEE is constructed from a natural ecru-colored Fire-resistant Aramid fabric that has been repurposed from the lining of deadstock Alpinestars race suits. It features a convertible collar that can be pulled up into a ½ balaclava configuration, referencing the protective nature of its race-inspired technical lineage. The shoulders have been enhanced with McLaren speedmark-shaped yokes that also allude to the epaulets that adorn the shoulders of Alpinestars auto racing suits. Every single piece from the collaboration features a piece of authentic F1 materials from Alpinestars F1 Racing deadstock library making each piece from this collaboration incredibly valuable and authentic.”
The collection features a six-pieces, ranging from $385-$2,500, including the Pyro SS Tee (Ecru), made from fire retardant deadstock F1 suit linings and featuring a high-neck collar inspired by balaclavas. The Arena Suit consists of a zip-up hoodie and sweatpants that connect via a hidden zipper, crafted from deadstock F1 suit fabric. The Rival Hoodie offers an oversized fit with top stitching details inspired by vintage F1 race suits. Lastly, the Track Star Leather Jacket showcases patchwork from McLaren F1 Team suit fabric, complete with ribbed cuffs and embroidered details honoring the racing legacy.
Alpine Stars has worked closely with F1 drivers such as Fabio Quartararo, Hunter Lawrence, Lando Norris, and even one of the youngest female drivers, Bianca Bustamante, to represent RSRV. Bustmante represents the RSRV lifestyle as she blends the boundaries of motorsports and fashion. The 18-year-old junior, Filipina driver in the all-female F1 Academy has been a fan since her racing career began at the age of 5 years old, “Alpine Stars has been a big part of my journey as it’s probably the very first suit I owned as a young kid. Confidence is everything in the sport- if you feel good, you do good and that shows on track. When you’re driving speeds of 260 kilometers per hour there’s no time to have any doubts especially when it comes to the performance gear. The motorsport aspect of the actual jackets they use and the materials they use for this line is the same thing that we use on track. They are even fireproof which is really cool for customers to experience,” she shared.
The RSRV x McLaren F1 capsule continues to reissue drops while many new collaborations will be launching through the beginning of Q1 of 2025.
