With back-to-school and back-to-college seasons just around the corner, Target is launching its first denim take-back event. Available in all Target stores nationwide, the take-back event will take place in stores from August 4 to August 10.
Consumers can save 20% on new denim purchases by recycling their used denim of any brand and any condition. Consumers will receive a promo code for 20% off all denim apparel, including national brands such as Levi’s, and Target-owned brands such as Universal Thread, Wild Fable, Goodfellow & Co., and Cat & Jack.
The denim event builds on the success of Target’s car seat trade-in program, which has recycled 2.6 million car seats and 39.7 million pounds of material since it was introduced in 2016.
“Our new denim take-back event is an easy way for families to give their used denim a new life,” said Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “With back-to-school and college top of mind for families, we’re offering this 20% off Target Circle deal to make it even more affordable for our guests to refresh their denim wardrobes, while also doing our part to reduce waste and keep used denim out of landfills.”
The denim business is one of the largest categories within Target’s apparel portfolio. “Our portfolio of owned only at Target brands like Universal Threads, Wild Fable, Goodfellow & Co., and Cat & Jack combined with national brand partners like Levi’s gives us a great mix of style and value,” said Sando.
“Our guest loves newness,” she continued. “We always offer the newest silhouettes and washes like baggy and cargo as well as straight and relaxed fits – a style that shows continued growth in the market. We’re excited to expand our Levi’s partnership to more stores and have also reintroduced Wrangler Denim in 200 locations.
“What we love about this program is that it directly solves a consumer need,” Sando added. “Kids grow out of denim so quickly, and the program offers the opportunity to trade those in for a discount on the newest styles and fits.”
