Walmart Business App Serves Small Business And Non-Profit Organizations

News Room

Walmart
WMT
, through its Walmart Business division, promised that it would provide small business and non-profit organizations with tools to save time, money, and hassle. The Walmart Business App that I highlighted last week in my report (July 18, 2023) is designed to deliver those tools. Here I will focus on the Walmart Business app and show how the company has delivered on this promise.

Here are some details:

1. Office Furniture and Supplies. Members can order office furniture, supplies, breakroom provisions, technology products and classroom essentials directly through the app.

2. Options on how to receive orders. Members can select how to receive their orders; they can choose delivery at their place of work or use a one-tap check-in for curbside pick-up at more than 4700 U.S. Walmart store locations.

3. Direct-to-Office Delivery. This popular means of delivery can be scheduled for an appropriate time.

4. Multi-user accounts. Members can set up, and then easily access, a multiuser account with up to five team members. These five members can then all share that one account directly from the app.

5. Easier Add-To Carts Ordering Features. Customers can easily customize large quantity orders by typing the exact quantity needed in the quantity field.

6. Hire Angi. Walmart Business is working with Angi to connect Walmart Business customers with highly rated professionals in their community.

7. Spending Tracking. Walmart Business+ members can track their organizational spending with the Spend Analytics tool on the app. It captures a lot of valuable data that will help them manage expenses and more.

8. Access to Marketplace. Walmart has expanded the Marketplace selection, making more special merchandise available to members.

Using the app makes the small business owner more efficient and knowledgeable about his business. In this way, decisions can be made with greater confidence and end up with better solutions that can solve problems. Walmart Business serves as a powerful partner to make the entire process more efficient and enable the owner to be a better merchant. After all, chances are that he/she has to be on the selling floor; armed with more information will lead to better help for customers as they try on and buy fashion or choose the right hard goods.

Having time to develop strong merchandising skills is important, all the more so in these competitive times. In particular, small stores have to have a clear and compelling focus on the classifications of merchandise they sell. They have to have the proper displays and have coordinated merchandise for sale so the customer who casually looks into a store is enticed to come in; that customer must be convinced of the fashion message the store wants to impart. After making a purchase of some gem, the store must continue to communicate with her/him through direct mail or social apps.

POSTSCRIPT: I am very excited that Walmart is devoting so much attention to service small businesses and non-profit organizations. They often need help, and their partnership with Walmart can be mutually beneficial. The professionals at Walmart can help entrepreneurs, especially young ones, or those with limited management experience, and at the same time these entrepreneurs can strengthen Walmart with more business. The ultimate customer does not have to know who is backing the entrepreneur and just enjoy the fact that he will be more professional and quicker to respond to customer’s requests.

We are living in a very competitive world. Many stores closed during the pandemic caused by COVID-19. However, new store openings are filling a needed void on many streets. Walmart Business can be a great source of help to these new businesses during these stressful times.
