Valve has released a new patch for Counter-Strike 2 that fixes multiple bugs on every map in the game, as well as a few more general bug fixes with game systems.
The patch is almost entirely focused on fixing map-specific issues or making some slight changes to improve the way some maps play. Some maps are getting some significant changes, whereas others just get one or two small bugfixes that you might not even notice.
The first map to get some big changes is Inferno. In terms of changes to the map, a railing on Balcony has been removed, and the garage door on bombsite A has been tweaked to improve visibility and stop clipping issues. There have also been changes to bomb visibility when you plant it in the fountain, which should stop you from having to search too hard for the bomb. There are also some general bug fixes and changes to how grenades bounce on certain surfaces.
Anubis is the other map to get a long list of changes. Most are simple tweaks to improve the geometry and misaligned surfaces which should stop some clipping issues and the weird grenade bounces you sometimes see. However, there have also been changes to how some areas of mid look and the CT team intro position. Some boosts have also been removed.
Nuke also gets some changes, most of which are similar to the other maps, but one big one is that dynamic lighting at squeaky has been removed, to stop shadows from giving away a player’s position. We saw this pop up a few times at IEM Sydney, where shadows would give one side a massive advantage in some areas.
The final map to get some significant changes is Ancient. The fog has been tweaked in some areas to make it less annoying, donut has been tweaked to make it easier to see in that area and some bullet penetration issues have been fixed.
Other maps have generally been given fixes for either issues with clipping or penetration issues. Vertigo’s ladders can no longer block bullets where the holes are, Mirage has had some bullet penetration issues tidied up and Dust 2 gets a massive change in that some crates have had cracks removed.
In terms of general fixes across the entire game, there are now fixes to stop weapons from falling through the map when dropped, improvements to skins and stickers and the bug where Molotov self-damage would be penalized as team damage has been fixed.
