There’s 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM to help the ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor. A built-in kickstand supports its detachable keyboard, so it’s not particularly comfortable for lap-bound usage.
This HP 15-inch laptop configuration packs an AMD Ryzen 3 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD for just $380 ($100 off). It’s a full-featured laptop that’ll serve you well for browsing and basic productivity. The 720p-equivalent display is the only real downside, but it should be plenty sharp and roomy for streaming and occasional schoolwork. Plus, there’s an HDMI port for external monitors, in addition to an SD reader and three USB ports.
Down to a mouthwatering $330, Dell’s Intel i3 Inspiron 15 laptop offers tremendous value with a 15-inch 1080p display, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It lacks modern connectivity niceties like USB-C and WiFi 6 but makes up for it with plenty of full-sized USB 3.2 ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card slot.
Considering most gaming laptops usually start around $700, gamers will appreciate this MSI configuration that’s come just under $600 pre-tax. Sporting an NVIDIA RTX 3050, an 11th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, and 8GB of RAM, the internals are strong enough to run lightweight esports titles like Fortnite at full fidelity with the 15.6-inch display’s 144Hz refresh rate.
This super portable 14-inch laptop is bursting with value today thanks to the fresh price cut. It’s rare to see such specs on a PC this affordable but Gateway has become something of a specialist in keeping prices down. You’re getting 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD which means this will be more than adequate for multitasking. Those specs are backed up further by an i5 processor, fingerprint scanner, and a Full HD display.
HP’s budget 2-in-1 line, the Pavilion x360, offers laptop and tablet functionality in one flexible form factor. This 12th-gen Intel i5 model with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB M.2 SSD is $300 off, one of the lowest we’ve ever seen. It’ll handle everything shy of gaming and visually creative work, but the 720p 14-inch screen might feel a little cramped for some.
This convertible 2-in-1 Lenovo Chromebook offers considerable value for the specs. With Intel’s 11th-generation i3 processor and 8GB of RAM, it’ll run ChromeOS as smoothly as anything out there. The lightweight software isn’t as robust as Windows, but there’s a cloud-based alternative for many apps these days, and it’s more than capable if most of your computing life exists in a browser.
Gateway’s laptops have really pushed through over the last few years as a budget laptop brand that offer nice specs with some stylish designs too. The brand is a Walmart exclusive nowadays and there are quite a few models available there at different prices. While we’d point you to the model above first as it offers more powerful specs, double the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD seen here, this one is worth a look if you really need a larger display. The battery life has impressed on most reviews too, but the dodgy trackpad seems to be a common downside – not that it will matter much if you’re using a mouse.
