It’s another lazy Sunday. In fact, it’s the last full Sunday of summer. Next Sunday is the autumnal equinox, and the first day of Fall. Enjoy these dog days of summer while they last, dearest crossword puzzle aficionados! Speaking of which, let’s solve this Mini Crossword!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.

ACROSS

1 — Green herb on a margherita pizza — BASIL

6 — Like somebody once everybody else has 8-Across — ALONE

7 — Some Mad Libs words — NOUNS

8 — Sight rhyme (but not real rhyme) of 6-Across — GONE

9 — Longest-serving U.S. president, familiarly — FDR

DOWN

1 — Loud sound — BANG

2 — Cool and distant — ALOOF

3 — Based on good reasoning — SOUND

4 — Word before tube or turmoil — INNER

5 — Famed guitarist Paul — LES

This came together super fast today, which makes sense since the Sunday Mini Crossword is generally the easiest of the week. 4-Down I got without actually having to guess the word, since it was basically all filled in by the time I got to it. In fact, I don’t think I really struggled with any of these, unlike Saturday’s which had a couple tricky ones. How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
