Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

A couple days ago I got lucky with a ‘B’ word—BRAIN opening for what ended up being PLUMB—and I was thinking about that when I guessed BRIDE today. I did not expect this to work so well a second time, but I guess B’s are in the air. For my second guess, I picked all new letters. COUNT slashed my 12 remaining solutions down to just two, but I didn’t even think of BOWER (fortunately). BOXER was the only word I could come up with, and that was the Wordle!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing in 3 and 0 for tying the Bot. 1 x 3 for 3XP Friday the 13th = 3 points! Huzzah!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The term “boxer” (fighter) originates from the verb “to box”, meaning to fight with fists, first recorded in the late 16th century. This likely relates to the notion of striking or containing within a figurative “box.”

For the dog breed, “Boxer” was named in late 19th-century Germany, possibly for its paw movements resembling a boxing stance.
