Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the lost 2.01%.
The best performers of the session on the were Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 2.28% or 54.50 points to trade at 2,444.50 at the close. Meanwhile, IHI Corp. (TYO:) added 1.96% or 67.00 points to end at 3,486.00 and Kuraray Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 1.71% or 27.00 points to 1,605.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:), which fell 9.99% or 1,965.00 points to trade at 17,695.00 at the close. Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:) declined 5.93% or 1,290.00 points to end at 20,460.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 3.44% or 500.00 points to 14,020.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2001 to 1569 and 284 ended unchanged.
Shares in Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.28% or 54.50 to 2,444.50. Shares in Kuraray Co., Ltd. (TYO:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 1.71% or 27.00 to 1,605.00.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.49% to 18.39.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.65% or 0.51 to $79.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.65% or 0.54 to hit $83.90 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 4.15 to trade at $1,942.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 145.96, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 157.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 104.09.
