Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky says he’ll ‘challenge any leader in tech to bench press’ after Musk/Zuck cage fight vow

  • Airbnb chief Brian Chesky said he’ll “challenge any leader in tech to bench press.”
  • The vow follows Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg apparently agreeing to hold a cage fight.
  • Chesky told Bloomberg he’s “been waiting for these physical battles in tech.”

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk appear set to go head-to-head in a showdown – and now the CEO of Airbnb seems to want a piece of the action too.

Brian Chesky told Bloomberg’s Dave Lee he’d “challenge any leader in tech to bench press. Cage matching seems to cross a line that I don’t need to cross.”

The vow comes days after Musk escalated his rivalry with the Meta CEO by challenging him to a cage fight.

On Tuesday Musk tweeted that Meta’s rumored plans to launch a Twitter rival would mean people are “exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options.” One user responded, warning Musk to “be careful” as Zuckerberg practices jiu-jitsu, to which Musk replied: “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”

Zuckerberg was quick to react to Musk’s call to battle out their differences in an Instagram story by posting Wednesday “Send Me Location.”

The Airbnb chief weighed in on the billionaires’ plans to cage fight and told Lee: “I’ve been waiting for these physical battles in tech. It’s just so funny.”

Zuckerberg has transformed his physique and joined the ranks of ripped tech execs after taking up jiu-jitsu and recently winning a few tournaments.

Christ Licht, who recently resigned as CEO of CNN, talked about his weight-loss journey in the now-infamous profile in The Atlantic that effectively cost him his job. He said he’d lost close to 50 pounds in the last three years following early-morning workouts.

Licht also took a jab at his predecessor Jeff Zucker by saying “Zucker couldn’t do this shit.”

Airbnb didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider, made outside normal working hours.
